Great Lakes TURN Expanding

Naperville, IL ~ Over 230 participants attended the Great Lakes TURN Forum on "Using Student Growth Data to Improve Teacher Effectiveness and Appraisal Systems", November 8-9.  Forty teams representing union and teacher leaders, school and district administration, school board members and community stakeholders heard presentations and panels; and found multiple opportunities to network with and learn from educators from ten different states:  Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, Maine, Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Southwest TURN Addresses Teacher Effectiveness

The second meeting of Southwest TURN, facilitated by Coordinators Bruce Dickinson and Ellen Bernstein, was held Oct 24, 2010, in order to piggyback on the national TURN meeting in San Antonio, TX. Twenty-five leaders representing fourteen locals in four states focused on teacher effectiveness and how best to respond to the push for the use of student achievement data in teacher evaluation.
