Review: Wall/Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar w/300 lb Capacity

"I've been using this pull up bar in my home gym for a couple months now and it is absolutely bombproof. We do P90X, Insanity, Asylum, and Primal7.com on this thing and it hasn't budged an inch. It's sits far enough away from the wall that you can do pull ups facing in or out with no problems and it's perfect for muscle ups. The extra hole fits a caribiner really nicely and we often hang a couple heavy bags. It can handle both bags and me at 175 doing pull ups no problem. Love it for Primal7 training too - just mount it at the right height for you. I bought 2 so we could mount them at different heights for my wife and I. Easy to install, high quality, solid workmanship and a GREAT price for a quality product." -  Destination Fit

Review: Wall/Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar w/300 lb Capacity

'This bar says it has a 300 pound capacity - this is true, at the least. I weigh 235 outfitted in workout gear, and I regularly do pull-ups with a 40 pound weight vest, putting me in at 275. On top of that, I do some heavy duty kipping, which puts the overall stress on the bar way over 300 pounds. Not a creak yet. I've had some bigger dudes than me use my bar too, no problems.

Mounting:
Mounting was easy in my garage, as my joists were the standard 16" apart. The mounting arms are 48" apart, so you're going to hit two different joists if your house is built to spec. I have a trussed house, so my joists were exactly 16" apart. The bar looks super clean when done like this. If this doesn't work out for you, just put a few 2x4" studs across two joists and then secure the pull-up bar to your studs... It will drop the bar about 2" obviously.

Height:
I have 9' ceilings, and my garage is 4" below the foundation, for a 9'4" ceiling in the garage where this is mounted. At 75 inches tall, I can reach up and grab this without leaving the ground, barely. So when I do pull-ups, I can almost be stiff/strict, but I have to slightly bend my knee to prevent touching. It's perfect in my opinion. The gap between bar and ceiling is decent when the bar is on its lowest point (towards the floor). You can do muscle-ups, but you're not going to have a ton of wiggle room - but it's enough. If you have the bar at the point closest to the ceiling, you may smack your head if you get carried away or like to do chest-to-bar pull-ups.

One minor problem:
The bar moves a bit. The screws on the ends that prevent the bar from rotating aren't snug, so the bar will rotate a small amount when you first grip it. If the bar were threaded with the bolts in the ends, this wouldn't happen. It's a small thing, but you're not going to find bars that move in a professional gym. I was slightly annoyed by this and have taken it upon myself to come up with a DIY solution. Not a huge deal, but this was nearly the perfect home gym pull-up bar." -  J. Pappan

“Your product has been a life changer. It was a significant purchase for me in many ways… it was the first real piece of fitness equipment I bought for myself. It was a “handyman” project, something I don’t do well, and I was able to do it. The bar is right there and gives me an opportunity and sometimes a reminder that even when time is short, there are always a few minutes available to exercise. It has also inspired my kids to exercise. They LOVE for me to put them up there so they can do pull ups as well.” - Mike Joyce
